The history of Maison Bereto takes its name from the homonymous Bereto hill, overlooking the Fifteenth-Century city walls of Radda in Chianti, and it begins with Franca and Lorenzo Pinzauti, who took over the Bereto Farm and decided to develop the production that has always characterised that area, namely, the wine production.
Franca and Lorenzo began to plant the rows and to construct the wine cellars and vats, with techniques which, at that time, were very innovative and, with great enthusiasm, they developed the Agricultural Holding which they named Colle Bereto (Bereto Hill). Colle Bereto is the mother of Maison Bereto - inaugurated shortly thereafter, in occasion of the presentation of the newly-renovated farm to a few friends and to the people of Radda in Chianti. The beauty of the place, combined with its flavours and scents, encouraged their children, Franca and Lorenzo, to develop fragrances evoking the atmosphere of the meadows and of the freshly-cut grass.
Francesca and Lorenzo Pinzauti started to get enthused about the idea and began to research everything that the land of Maison Bereto had to offer. Thereafter, the first fragrances for the “Home” collection and the first herbal teas were created, followed then by the candles, all prepared with love and creativity by Francesca and Leonardo. Thanks to the early, pioneering experiments, new fragrances and candles were developed, all evoking the scents of Colle Bereto.
Bearing witness of the innate creativity in the company’s DNA, the history of Colle Bereto merged with the craftmanship of the Pinzauti family, leading to the creation of a candle model which is meant to physically represent the “knowledge of hands”. Indeed, there are different historical factors coming together in a “simple” candle: the first one being the candle’s exterior shape, which is inspired to the mould used by Franca and Lorenzo Pinzauti to shape cups for costume jewelry.
The craftsmen made use of this structure to bend small, round metal disks to create necklaces and earrings. Hand-crafted glasses with a very special finish are then inserted within this same base. These are obtained from the bottles used by the Colle Bereto Farm itself, which are first cut, then finished and polished manually and finally coloured internally, depending on the scent. At the end of this process, the company’s logo and the fragrance’s name are screen-printed onto the surface.
At the break of dawn, the scent of freshly-cut grass pervades the vineyards of Colle Bereto, enveloping its hedges and fruit trees. Buds burst forth all around and the sun lights up the crisp air on the edge of the Belvedere hill.

A light and charming bouquet pervades the rooms of Maison Bereto. Magnolia, Orange Blossom and Tuberose glimmer in the heat of a sunny day. From the Pavillion, immersed in the greenery of the hills, the scent of summer spreads all around.
